Task
For this assignment, we were required to transform our completed dissertation into an e-publication design in PDF format. The main objective was to present our dissertation in a more engaging visual format while ensuring that the design concept was connected to our research topic.
We were required to develop a suitable design direction for the publication by preparing a mood board, concept design, and sample page layouts before finalizing the e-book. The final PDF publication then needed to be converted into a flipbook format using FlipHTML5 for submission.
Throughout the process, we needed to consider important design aspects such as page layout, publication size, typography, readability, and overall visual consistency. Feedback from the design review sessions in Weeks 8, 9, and 11 was also taken into consideration to improve the final e-publication design before submission.

Reflection
Working on this e-publication task was actually one of the more enjoyable parts of the dissertation process because I was able to combine my research work with my design skills. Instead of only focusing on academic writing, I had the opportunity to explore how my dissertation could be presented visually and create a publication that represents my research topic.
At the beginning, I found it challenging to figure out how to connect my chosen visual style with my research topic. However, through experimenting with different layouts, colours, typography, and design elements, I slowly developed a clearer direction for the publication. I especially enjoyed exploring the grunge and youth-inspired style because it allowed me to be more creative and experiment with a different visual approach compared to a typical academic document.
Throughout the process, I learned that design choices need to have meaning and should not only be based on visual appeal. Each element, such as the colour palette, textures, typography, and composition, needed to connect back to my research concept and communicate the intended message.
Overall, this task was a fun and rewarding experience because it allowed me to see my dissertation from a different perspective. Transforming a research paper into a visual publication made the project feel more personal and creative. It also helped me appreciate how design can enhance the way information is presented and experienced by audiences.
