Task Progression

In this Module we were tasked to create a character for the game called Genshin Impact. Genshin Impact is a fantasy adventure game where you explore a huge, colorful world, complete quests, and fight enemies. i've been playing this game for a long time to say this game is one of my favorite game so after Ms.Anis giving us this assignment i was overjoyed.

Ms.Anis told us to do a character observation of an existing characters in genshin impact so i decided to study the childrens sized characters, my favorite character is klee and she is really adorable so im planning to create a children sized character like klee and creating cute characters has always been my passion. after observing the character designs and their attire i start creating 3 moodboard for my character.

As i was making the moodboard i had a lore in mind to made sure to connect the characters with the existing character in the game which is Arlecchino and the House of Hearth members (Lynette, Lyney, and Freminet) i love these characters so much so i wanna make sure my characters will be related with my favorite characters in a way, just like how she will also befriend Klee in the future.

Afterwards we were immediately asked to create a silhouette of our characters and here are the progression of my character sillhouette.

When i was creating the sillhouette i was stuck in between making the character into a cute and fluffy concept so everything has to be fluffy but then i thought "it doesnt go well with the personality im going for, i want her to be crazy!" so i decide okay maybe lets make her wear fluffy baggy clothes but also add some sharpness into it. so the final design was perfect enough for me and i decided to pick the last design.

Details : 

One of the youngest member in the house of hearth, she was adopted and found by Arlecchino in an abandoned house eating bugs and random things to survive, She quickly adept into the household and has always been a "weird" child for always be smiling, no one knows what she would do next but she is for sure very clever at tricking people, her innocence adds points into making her easily underestimated which made her one of the smartest and strongest member in the family. She is very cheerful and never been seen crying, and always smiling, she works in the Opera as a Jester performant alongside her brother and sister Lyney and Lynette.

Pierkie is a Human child, with Strawberry blonde hair and pinkish accent, with Bright golden eye and Fuschia eyes. She wore a Jester hat and a Jester outfit and pointy shoes. She loves tricking and surprising people and also making people laugh. her favorite thing to do is having slumber party, she loves hugs a lot especially from Arlecchino. She's friends with everyone especially the melusines. she also loves the travelers and her siblings (Lyney, Lynette, Freminet)

Weapon : Toy hammer (Claymore).

I start lining the sillhouette to see the overal design and i feel like omg ok it felt so empty so i tried maybe refining and coloring the pattern and that way itll be easier to see the design

After refining and adding colors i still feel like it felt empty but then i should stop thinking too much about it cause itll be better after coloring and shading and everything, i fixed the pattern on the hat on the back view but i get lazy to do the other hehehe but u get the idea lah teehee

But hey at least the sillhouette look unique, i like how the sillouette look like it kinda remind me of a star actually its very cute, afterwards i tried to make it neater, and tweak the design a little more along the way.

Feedback

  • Ms.Anis said that i should start from designing whatever i had in mind, and whichever in my opinion is the best i should go with that and improvise the design more.
  • I should make up my mind if i want to make her cute soft or crazy soft because some design does not translate well with the personality

Reflection 

  • i've always been interested in character design and also genshin impact, so after Ms.Anis told us that we are going to design a character for my favorite game it was thrilling, i've ever drawn a lot of my own oc before but ive never really had an in depth knowledge on what i need to create my own character and how to make them unique, in here i learn that i have to also learn about color, shapes, cause it will also affect the character personality and aura, and also learning on how to make the character believable by relating the characters with the existing characters in game.
