Task 1 - Proposal

At first i was late to find groups and i finally joined the group 48, our group was really friendly and we each of us came from different countries so its nice to know everyone in the group. after forming the group we started on discussing about our proposal and what we wanted to do.

Fig. 1.0 Work breakdown.

In our meeting, we talked about tattoos and why they're still a touchy subject. We picked three cultures: Maui, Japan, and Hong Kong, to look into. Three of us researched each culture, while the other three sketched ideas. We all worked together to brainstorm and create designs. I was choosen to do Hong Kong sketch.

After we divide our works between six people, what i had to do is to sketch, so i had to wait for Maaiya to come up with her research to start designing the tattoo

Fig. 1.2 Hongkong tattoo research

After reading the Hongkong tattoo research i started sketching the tattoo design and came up with a dragon tattoo because dragon has always been a representation of luck, power, wisdom, bravery, strength in chinese culture. chinese dragons inspired everything from religious practices to the national emblem, countless astounding artworks and architectural marvels to the globally famous dragon dance. The creature is inseparable from the history of the Chinese people.

After finishing the sketch i placed the design into our proposal presentation and explained the meaning behind my sketch, once everyone is done with their research and sketch, we compiled it all and start recording our presentation through online meeting.

Feedback

  • There was not a lot of feedback for this assignment due to the topic being up for interpretation. We asked about the presenting and some few questions about the presentation (on teams).

Reflection

  • This assignment is really fun especially my part when drawing the dragon tattoo design for Hongkong, i have always been interested in tattoo designs and even interested in getting one myself, the research makes me learn more in depth about tattoos especially from three different cultures, its amazing that each cultures have different styles of tattoos and each of them has a unique features for each cultures.
