Task 3 - Final Project

In our final project we had to do another sketch and of each culture and we will combine all the design all together. Mr.Charles suggested that we should implement the design in a person's body because it is a tattoo, so we decided to be doing a fake tattoo on Takumi's back. We printed our design on a Thermal paper and trace it on Takumi's back using body paint.

Since my research was on Hongkong tattoo, i designed a sketch on Hongkong Tattoo design, i created a Koi tattoo swimming on a water, and adding lotus flower, since Koi and Lotus symbolizes something i decided to go with koi and lotus flower cause in my opinion this design could blend well with the other cultures.

After everyone sent their design, we combined all the design altogether.

After finalizing the design, our leader printed it on tattoo paper and got body paint. We planned to do it after class in a specific classroom. Here's how we applied it:

Step one: We cleaned the skin and put on deodorant to make sure the paper sticks well for color transfer.

Step two: We peeled off the paper to check if the color transferred well.

Step three: After transferring, we traced it with body paint to make it clearer. But it took too long and was hard to make it look good. Trying to clean up with alcohol made it worse. So, i fixed it up using Photoshop to make it look better and turned in the edited version

Feedback

  • Following the initial attempt to paint the tattoo on the body, we received constructive feedback from Dr. Charles, who expressed concerns about the feasibility of executing the design in this manner. Recognizing the challenges encountered and constrained by time limitations, Dr. Charles wisely suggested exploring an alternative approach using Photoshop editing.

Reflection

  • I am not a fan of group projects however this group is the kind of group that makes me love doing group projects, everyone was so organized and doing their own tasks, and the group assignment went smoothly thanks to our leader and everyones cooperation, this assignment was really fun too, i love designing and editing the tattoo, illustrating and doing photoshop really has been my favourite thing to do, i hope in the future if we had another group project i hope my group would be like this again
